Awakened
Humans who are descendants of lore and legend are called the Awakened. They are the result of creatures from beyond the mist intermingling with humankind. Often, these descendants can be traced back to creatures and beings written about in ancient tomes and passed down from generation to generation.
While many Awakened choose to become proficient in one form of magic or another, the Awakened themselves have innate abilities that link them to their heritage. As such, the Awakened have the most diverse population out of all the heritages, as no two bloodlines are the same.
No one knows who the first awakened actually was. There is plenty of speculation that it was Cain, the brother of Abel, the first murderer, who became intertwined with legends of blood drinking. Still others believe the awakened spawned from ancient civilizations like Mesopotamia and Egypt, where the gods walked among mankind.
Even the Awakened question their origins, but throughout history one truth has remained. Awakened stay hidden in the shadows, beneath the notice of humanity.
